This week we had to write a recap last week because last week we had a trip to the Groynes but I didn’t go.
Athletics day 2024 Recap
On Wednesday 24th of October we had our athletics day at the junior campsite.
Our first event was High jump there was a competitive side and non competitive side I tried the first jump on the competitive side but sadly didn’t make it so I went to non competitive which was pretty easy.
Our next event was shot put I didn’t really try because shot put isn’t really my thing but somehow I got 5th.
We had sprints as our 3rd event and I was able to get in the finals for 80 m and 100 m race but didn’t qualify for zones.
After the 3 events we had in the morning we had our morning tea break.
Our 4th event was discs just like shot put I didn’t try because it ´s not really my event.
Our 5th event of the day was long jump my favourite. I was able to jump 3.32 m making me come 1st place but still didn’t qualify for zones.
Our last event was long distance I didn’t try this year because I didn’t wanna get into zones for it because of what happened last year at zones.
In the afternoon we had class relays, house colour relays and prefects versus the teachers relays. For the class relays our class came 2nd and for house colour relays red house came 1st(my house) then for the last relays the prefects won.
It was a very fun day and I enjoyed it.

Kupe and Te Wheke Storyboard (Modern Ver)
This week in our reading group we’ve been reading a story about Kupe and Te Wheke. We had to create a modern version of Kupe and Te Wheke. We had the choice to do a map, poster or Storyboard. So I did a story board, if you’ve read this story before you might have an idea.
Character Reflection on Kupe (the story of Kupe Te Wheke)
Character Reflection on Kupe
Character traits:
-Determined
-Brave
-Reckless
Role in the story:
-He goes fishing so he can feed his people.
-He is enemies with Muturangi because his octopus (Te Wheke) eats all of their fish leaving them with barely anything to eat.
Kupe was a rangatira (Maori chief) and a great fisherman who lived in Hawaiiki. He was a rival of high priest named Muturangi. They’re rivals because of Muturangi’s pet octopus (Te Wheke). Te Wheke would eat everything on Kupe’s land leaving them with almost nothing. In the end because of Kupe’s determination to kill Te Wheke he was able to kill him with a calabash.
Virtual Reality Poster
This week we had a lesson about virtual reality and we got to wear these VR headsets. We learnt about the ocean and what we can do to protect the ocean. We had to create a poster and I did this on Canva. I did it with Amber Dai.

This term we are doing calendar art. This year we have a theme and the theme is waterways. I decided to do the New Brighton Beach. We had to do a DLO about the waterway. I did mine on Canva and I’ve already started drawing.
How to ask someones age in Te reo
This term we were learning how to ask people their age in Te reo. We had to create a poster for the little kids on the Junior Campsite to teach them how to ask each other’s age in Te reo. This is my one and I used canva to create this.
